The half-year-long process of practising has been rewarded — Fricska has become the fastest folk dance ensemble, individually and in a team as well. Actually, they set their own new record, by which the Hungarian folk band has triumphed over the Irish king of tap dance, Michael Flatley.
Besides knocking their iron shoe heels, they stroke their chests and thighs during the movement; the speed is almost impossible to follow, and the steps could be counted by the jury only in slow motion. All our hard work has paid off. If you had blinked, sneezed, yawned or otherwise diverted your attention during the actual historic event on which the preceding paragraph is based, you would have missed it.
Those 28 taps took place, astonishingly, in one second, long enough for not much else but setting a record according to Guinness. Michael broke the mould of traditional Irish dancing by incorporating upper body movement and creating edgy rhythm patterns that departed from the traditional. He has created, directed and produced several successful shows including Lord of the Dance , Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger.
His Lord of the Dance show broke box office records all over the world. It is a record that still stands to this day.
